Barcelona presented its new coach, Xavi Hernandez, to the fans of the Catalan club in the "Camp Nou" and the media, today, Monday, coming from the Qatari club Al Sadd, with a contract that extends until 2024.
Xavi signed the contract that will link him to Barcelona as a coach until 2024 in front of the Catalan fans, who expressed their happiness at the return of their former star, succeeding the Dutchman, Ronald Koeman.
Xavi, returning to the Camp Nou, said: "I thank the club and the fans who welcomed me in this way. Of course, we are here at the best club in the world and I will work hard to achieve success. We must win every game."
For his part, Barcelona club president Joan Laporta welcomed the former star of the team, saying: "Today is a historic day for Xavi's return to his home. We have a lot of work ahead in Barcelona."
Xavi became the first coach to be presented at the Camp Nou stadium, while he used this method when signing star players.
Barcelona had resolved the return of Nachavi to supervise it for the remainder of the current season and for two additional seasons, succeeding the Dutchman, Ronald Koeman, welcoming the "absolute legend".
Barcelona said on Twitter last Saturday: "It's time to go home. Welcome, Xavi," adding, accompanied by a video of Xavi during his farewell to the Camp Nou in 2015, "It was never goodbye, we see you later."
And the Catalan club revealed in a statement, "Barcelona has reached an agreement with Xavi to become the first team coach for the rest of this season and two more seasons. Xavi, who was established in the Barcelona youth team, has left his current club, Al-Sadd, after talks during the past few days with the club's owners."
